Roger's tour hit a half-full hockey arena in New Jersey last night.
Roger was in great voice, played all of TOMMY (sans "Underture")
totalling about 70 minutes, followed by an additional hour and a
quarter of Who and solo hits, including "Giving It All Away",
"Pictures of Lily", a great version of "Young Man Blues", "Blue Red
and Grey" on solo ukelele, and finishing up with "Naked Eye."

A really great show. I was there. I've been listening to all of the
downloads. The nicest surprise last night was that he did Naked Eye
after Blue Red and Grey. He's been
finishing most or may of his shows with that. It was great that he did
Naked Eye afterward. I was little disppointed that Simon didn't do
Going Moble, but heck, a great night. I really enjoyed it.

Going Moble,
Saw that at the Wellmont.

Sorry Roger didn't sing "Acid Queen" like he did in '76.

Sorry Roger didn't sing "Acid Queen" like he did in '76.
Does that mean that he didn't sing it as well as then, or that he
didn't sing it at all?

I don't think he's getting much media exposure, nothing like the attention
that would be paid to a Who tour with Roger and Pete.  It might have been
better to book this tour into large theatres and completely avoid arenas--as
it is there is a mix of theatres, arenas, casinos etc.

I don't know if the Who would even get much media exposure at this
point. The radio and record business has changed so much.

I agree about the theatres. I skipped the Newark show, but I would
have gone to two nights at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank. The
smaller venues are nice. That goes for the Who too. I don't know if
I'd even go see them at MSG, but I'd definitely go to the Garden State
(PNC) Arts Center. Ah, who am I kidding? I'd go to MSG for the Who.

They seemed to do okay in terms of publicity on their last few tours. Local
broadcast media in particular tend to be lazy, they like anything they can
put on the air without working up a sweat (unlike investigative journalism).
A tour by "legendary 60s rockers The Who" is perfect because all they need
is some shots of people lining up outside the venue, a brief interview clip
with Pete or Roger, and some file footage of Pete windmilling. Then the
idiotic anchor says he really likes that song "Teenage Wasteland" and his
even more idiotic co-host with the breast implants agrees and it's time for
a commercial break.

When they played L.A. in '08 Roger said something to the crowd about being
given the choice between one night at Staples Center or two nights at the
Nokia Theatre next door, and they chose the theatre which I think was a good
decision due to the comfier seating, better acoustics and better views. The
first night was okay, the second night they really dialed up the voltage,
Pete seemed reluctant to leave the stage after the encore, for a moment I
thought he was going to tell a roadie to call Roger back so they could do
another song. That show convinced me they weren't done yet.

On any given night...they are certainly not done.

They will always be able to get up for a big event.

If she's a stripper then they make sense, they shouldn't be an asset for
someone supposedly working in journalism.

Roger's voice could call an end to it, I'm very pleased his surgery has
apparently rolled back the years on his voice. Pete's attitude is the other
key factor, if he doesn't want to be onstage with Roger then even if they
talk him into it the shows will probably be disappointing.
