Hi, I'm still listening to my early 90s version of Quadrophenia but I'm
thinking of finally getting the remaster.

I'd like to know whether you think it's worth shelling out for it again, as
I've already bought the bloody thing twice! I don't want to get it again if
it isn't a serious improvement, (I'll buy the Who's Next classic album DVD
instead).

cheers

Hold Off, some time this year the Deluxe version of Quad will be released.
If you must get it now, get the Japaneese version which has far superior
sound to any other versions. JD

Ehhh...null tests have shown that many of the "different" versions of
the remix are in fact digitally identical, issues of jitter aside. I
think it's time to stop demonizing the far-cheaper US version.

Don't confuse them with facts. Don't you know that imports ALWAYS
sound better?!?!?!?

It totally depends on the system. The US and Japanese CDs are digitally
identical, and while they sound different on some systems, they sound
exactly the same on others.

They sound worlds apart on mine. In my home and in my car.
I know this has been discussed a lot on here but for my money the Japanese
sounds great. The bass is fantastic on it. My US version is VERY bright
and has a lot of high end. Fang was telling me if you copy the US version
it will sound the same as the Jap version but I never tried it.
Also looking forward to the 5.1 mix!

To each his own. No difference here...

Do you think before you post? How can 2 digitally identical CDs sound
different? Its not possible. You are hearing things. It is your
imagination.

They will always sound identical, and in double blind testing you
would not be able to tell the difference. In fact the person
conducting the test could play the same CD twice (since they are
identical) and you would pick one over the other as sounding "better".

Or are you an audiophool who has $50 gold plated fuses in your sound
system for "better definition and staging" and vibration cancelling
volume control knobs for "more openness"?

There's a sucker born every minute.

Be nice if the 2010 Quad concert was included as a CD or DVD.

Thanks to everyone for their opinions. A deluxe version sounds interesting,
what will that include?

Cheers.
