Any video or audio or even stories of John playing a standard 6-string
guitar? I know he probably did when he first started, but how about
later in life? I imagine that he would be very good.

I was always interested in the instruments he played, other than bass,
like when he would play the French horn or other brass instruments.
It's interesting how his early bass work with the Who sounded so much
like brass in a big band or marching band. The bass on "I'm a Boy"
could have been replaced by a tuba. What a talented musician he was.

I seem to recall him saying in an early 80's interview about his
guitar/bass collection that he collects guitars but can't play them.
I'm sure that's a bit of an exaggeration. My bet is that he could
play to a point but wouldn't want to do so publically. John also
played piano, examples of which can be found on his solo albums and
select Who songs.

I love Entwistle's brass work, especially the stuff on Quadrophenia
and "Blue Red and Grey."

A friend of mine was trying to push the Red Hot Chili Peppers on me
once (which wasn't too hard, since I like them), and he said something
like, "And Flea! He even plays trumpet on one song! Check this
out..." It was some piddly little thing (on the By the Way album),
nothing compared to what Entwistle used to do. (Though I do like
Flea's bass playing.)
