Anyone wonder why Pete/The Who decided to take him on as their drummer?

Well Kenny was the drummer in the Small Faces, a rival '60s Mod band,
they knew him and he knew them.

Not really rocket science!

He also subbed for Keith on a lot of the Tommy soundtrack, plus they all went through the horrible '68 Aussie/NZ tour together that must have been a bonding experience. Then there was his drumming for The Faces, one of Britain's most admired live bands by the rock cognoscenti. Plus John liked him as well.

Why didn't Roger like him?

Why didn't Roger like him?
Roger wasn't happy with Kenney getting a quarter share of The Who when Pete elevated him to official member (Roger wanted "guest" drummers by hire). He also felt, as did many fans, that his style didn't fit The Who.

I'll ignore the completely unsubstantiated rumor that Roger banged Kenney's wife. Such scurrilous talk will not pass my lips!

He was always a competent drummer, but he had no charisma.
